After running sudo port upgrade outdated,
---> Computing dependencies for freetype ---> Fetching freetype ...
If I run the command again, I get
Error: No ports matched the given expression
I also had the same problem after installing fresh port on another mac.

Make that:
following "sudo port upgrade outdated" simply means there are no outdated ports.

I'm not sure I understand. What's been eliminated in the "..." above? Did freetype upgrade successfully? If not, or if some other port failed, can you attach the relevant main.log?
The response "No ports matched the given expression" following "sudo port upgrade" simply means there are no outdated ports anymore.
