Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))
Hallo
Digikam is not starting. There is only the symbol in he dock. But nothing happens. In the Console i can found no entry.
Digikam never startet though i just build it the first time.
When doing selfupdate there is shown a message.
########################################################## # Don't forget that dbus needs to be started as the local # user (not with sudo) before any KDE programs will launch # To start it run the following command: # launchctl load /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist ##########################################################
The command just replys
"Nothing found to load".
I then modified the org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist with the PropertyList Editor and activated it. Then i executed the above command once more, without any reply. Doing it again it says something like "already started" so i guess the first command worked. Anyway i still cannot start digikam.
So what steps are necessary after doing "sudo port install digikam" ?
with kind regards
CBraun

Try also executing
launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist
If that does not help, I have also no idea. For me it is working. But you could try to start Digikam with the following command to get some more debug information on the console:
/Applications/MacPorts/KDE4/digikam.app/Contents/MacOS/digikam

Doesn`t help. I start it via terminal. Then its is bouncing in the dock without a icon. Later it stops. No message in the terminal ;(

In the activitylist the the process has no Name and there is displayed (not responding) behind it.

The installation of the Digikam port prints also the following to my terminal:
###################################################### # Programs will not start until you run the command # 'sudo chown -R $USER ~/Library/Preferences/KDE' # replacing $USER with your username. ######################################################
Have you tried executing that command?

I think, this ticket should be closed as the problem seems to be solved. (I do not have the permissions to do so.)

hi folks, actually i get the same error as here described two years ago: + MacPorts base version 2.1.3 installed, MacPorts base version 2.1.3 downloaded.
+@ OSX Lion
Digikam doesnt start. So i think the stati "invalid" is not correct. Whats the reason for this old bug in the actual macports version? Something goes wrong with this paketmanager. I think for example needed kde skripts should be run automatically and not after hours of internet research ...
greetings sbo

Please do not re-open old and invalid tickets. There is no problem with the digikam port, but instead with your setup. If you need tech support, move to the Macports Users Mailing List.
Don't forget to use WikiFormatting and to Cc the port's maintainer.
