#27983 closed enhancement (duplicate)

python* dependency of python_select

Reported by: nhojpatrick (John Patrick) Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.9.2
Keywords: python_select Cc: jyrkiwahlstedt, erickt@…, MarcusCalhoun-Lopez (Marcus Calhoun-Lopez), jaroel (Roel Bruggink)
Port: python24, python25, python26, python27, python31, python32

Description

python_select is a required dependency of python, so I've update all the ./dports/lang/python?? ports to reflect this. This will make installing python simpler and cleaner.

The diff is for all python ports and is missing the version, release or epoch update, as some python ports might want to combine with other changes.

It's not a required dependency. Also we're trying to replace the *_select ports with the 'port select' action in base.

I saw it as a required dependency as it is was required in order to fully complete installation. Without executing it, python is not fully avaliable.

Regarding fixing each release of python to work with port select. Are those bugs already raised, as I can't see them. Or shall I try port select for each python version, raise them individually or together?
