Get an error when 'port install mesa':

You may want to attach a complete main.log -- one that does not contain lines saying "skipping". To create this, clean the port and try again.
sudo port clean mesa sudo port install mesa

You may want to attach a complete main.log -- one that does not contain lines saying "skipping". To create this, clean the port and try again.
sudo port clean mesa sudo port install mesa
I performed cleaning mesa. When I do 'sudo port install mesa' now, X11 freezes. "Ctrl-C" kills the installation at early stages. If the system hangs longer, the hard start is needed. This is why the log file (see attachment main_04a.log.txt) looks incomplete, I suppose.

If building mesa horks your system, you obviously have deeper problems.

Boot off your install disk, and run disk utility. Do "Repair Disk" on your disks. If that doesn't turn up anything, grab an Ubuntu LiveCD and run the memory checker from the boot menu.
