Description (last modified by mf2k (Frank Schima))
I just installed macports using MacPorts-1.9.2-10.6-SnowLeopard.dmg. As per the instructions, did the following:
port -v selfupdate sudo port install Pallet
If I locate the Pallet application in the Finder, and double-click on it, I get this error message:
"You can't open the application Pallet.app because it may be damaged or incomplete"
On the other hand, if I open it from the command line, it does indeed run, but functions incorrectly. Immediately on startup, I get this in the Terminal application, but it does keep running:
/var/macports/software/Pallet/1.1_0/Applications/MacPorts/Pallet.app/Contents/MacOS/Pallet 2011-03-29 13:51:28.596 Pallet[28622:903] Error loading /Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports/Smart Crash Reports.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Smart Crash Reports: dlopen(/Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports/Smart Crash Reports.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Smart Crash Reports, 265): no suitable image found. Did find: /Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports/Smart Crash Reports.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Smart Crash Reports: GC capability mismatch 2011-03-29 13:51:28.650 Pallet[28622:903] ROWS: 0
I wished to install openmotif, so I selected that port, and hit the "Install" button on the GUI, yielding this in the Terminal:

After hitting the "Start" button, I get this:

I'm then prompted to enter my admin password, which results in this output:

No installation takes place. It's entirely possible this is due to some sort of error on my part - I'm a macports n00b.

This ancient ticket refers (more or less) to a version of Pallet that no longer exists.
Pallet is presently broken, and has been for about 10 years.
The current best shot at building something would be to start with the github repo at <https://github.com/macports/pallet.git>
juanger has retired.
