This seems to be a problem with texlive and/or texinfo.

I can confirm your problem. I have the same problem building asymptote.

The complete main.log for building geomview is attached. I think the problem starts with

:info:build This is e-TeXk, Version 3.1415926-2.2 (TeX Live 2010/MacPorts 2010_2)

:info:build ---! /Users/admin/.texlive2010/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/etex.fmt was written by pdftex

Probably means I screwed something up with r77477. Let me see...

We should not be building etex; and now we're not (r77617)

Looks like this fixes geomview and asymptote.
