freedroidclassic crashes (segmentation fault) when viewing deck map

Description
Hi!
Freedroidclassic crashes whenever I view the deck map. (i.e. go to a console in the game, and activate it, choose "deck map" on the menu).
In addition, if no config file was written before crash (i.e. the game was not exited at least once), there will be an empty directory called ~/.freedroidclassic, and freedroid will crash on all future attempts at running freedroid (but will run after you remove the directory).

You are right on most part. The game is indeed old and probably the source hasn't been touched in years ;-). But it works fine on Linux - at least Gentoo. So I already tried to search on Google and their sf site, but didn't find anything.
Still thought it's worthwhile to report, since if there's ports not maintained and broken, they need to be removed? Don't remove this one though yet, since I will look into this, although I'm not a programmer (it might be trivial to fix in the end).

Hi!
I fixed the game via the attached patches. Please, check that my changes are proper, since I'm new to programming - I may have screwed up something or made it in the "wrong" way =). Works for me, however.
The game is unmaintained upstream, I contacted the freedroidRPG dev team in IRC and they don't maintain freedroidclassic anymore, and it seems, no one does.

These don't sound like MacPorts-specific problems. Please search the freedroid issue tracker and see if you can locate any existing reports about these problem; if so, make a note here of the URLs. If there are patches attached to those tickets, maybe we can use them in MacPorts. If no issues are filed, please report them to the developers of this software.
Unfortunately, there is no maintainer for freedroidclassic in MacPorts so nobody is looking after this port.
Also, the game appears to be old, having not seen a new release since 2003, so it's not surprising it has stopped working, and it would also not be surprising if the developers have lost interest in it too.
