What do you mean "downloading binary"? What command did you type, what was the output? Can you attach the main.log file from the failing port process?

I have attached the main.log file generated when I did "sudo port install atlas". Is this main.log helpful?

The log appears to be cut off in the middle of a line. If that's really how the log ends on your system, can you try cleaning and installing again? Maybe that will produce a complete log.
sudo port clean atlas sudo port install atlas

sudo port clean atlas sudo port install atlas
I left my computer running all night after "sudo port install atlas" and the process completed normally. I went on and completed "sudo port install py26-gnuplot" and that completed as well. The only change I made to my environment was to update to Xcode 3.2.6 from 3.2.3. Thanks for your help! I think my problem is fixed.
