Where was this faulty gdbm distfile downloaded from? What does the distfile (/opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/gdbm/gdbm-1.8.3.tar.gz) contain? According to the error message, it is an HTML file.

I renamed *.tar.gz to .html and opened it. It is downloading the login page for the wifi I'm using (even though I can surf on the internet... weird). I'll retry the download at home. Sorry for the confusion! Thanks.

Ok, that's possibility 2 on the MisbehavingServers page. Downloading on a non-neutered network should work.
