Hi, just wanted to add the exact same error is thrown when I try to install cairo on 10.6.8.

Looks like cairo does not build with llvm-gcc, the configure.compiler option may need to be set.

Can you attach the main.log please so I can see what happened? There are other tickets open already of which I suspect this is a duplicate.
