vacuuming registry after uninstall is slow

Description
When I uninstall a port with "sudo port -v uninstall some_port", I need to wait several minutes after the message
---> Removing work directory for some_port
is displayed, even when the work directory contains few files. It was much faster in the past.

OK, then there's a missing message. I've reported bug #30622 for that.
BTW, couldn't registry vacuuming be faster, in particular if one wants to uninstall several ports?
