Installation of py27-pyqt4 fails

When trying to install py27-spyder on a clean, new install of macports on MacOS 10.6.8 it fails while trying to install py27-pyqt4 giving the following error:
---> Configuring py27-pyqt4 Error: Target org.macports.configure returned: configure failure: shell command failed (see log for details) Error: Failed to install py27-pyqt4 Log for py27-pyqt4 is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_python_py27-pyqt4/py27-pyqt4/main.log Error: The following dependencies were not installed: py27-pyqt4 py27-rope py27-scipy SuiteSparse metis gcc44 gcc_select gmp mpfr xz swig-python bison gsed swig pcre py27-sphinx py27-docutils py27-roman py27-jinja2 py27-markupsafe py27-pygments Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.

Looks like a recent upgrade to pyXX-sip changed the 'sip' executable install name; let me see what I can do.

Probably a terrible idea but if you need a quick fix.
sudo ln -s /opt/local/bin/sip-2.7 /opt/local/bin/sip
I'm new to macports but should some thing like this work?
port select py27-sip sip
