Description

I would like to use MacPorts on Ubuntu (I know it is not its purpose but I really like the Portfile system) so a binary package would be nice.

I don't know of anybody else using MacPorts on Ubuntu so if you want it there you'll probably have to compile it yourself from source.

I can't think of a good reason to run MacPorts on an Ubuntu machine. Maybe running a mirror, but for that, building from source should be sufficient.

Nevertheless, there is an old .dsc file in trunk/base/portmgr/ubuntu from long time ago.

I have built a package, it is available here. (And you can find my code here.)

While it is possible to compile MacPorts on Linux systems, it's really only useful to run a mirror. We're not going to provide a Debian package – there is no sufficient demand for it.

This second link has gone dead, and there are no cached copies on archive.org that I can find...

You can find it here. I have no idea if it still builds, though.
