I opened an upstream ticket: http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/2169
But I'm not sure if that's the only problem.

I committed r116166. I don't know if there are also other instances of the wrong compiler and where they are (other than those mentioned in the ticket I reported, but I don't see gcc used anywhere else when I'm using the default installation).
Eric tried to patch some Fortran compilers, but it looks like all references to Fortran were removed and I don't see Fortran used anywhere.
