Description
The patch called patch-configure.diff was disabled when going to v0.8, but it is needed to be able to compile a bytecode executable. The other patch cannot be applied and should probably stay disabled.

I reintegrated the patch (compiled native programs crash w/o it) AND bumped to version 0.9.1 -- the bytecode example program I ran crashed though; in r95497

That patch seems like a really odd way of accomplishing the change. Would it still be needed if the port was updated to 0.9.1? If so, is there an upstream bug report?
