Description
I tried installing this a couple of times with the same error. I then tried to clean the port and then install with debugging info. The following error appears:
shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_devel_icu/icu/work/icu/source-i386" && /usr/bin/gnumake -j2 -w all " returned error 2 ... DEBUG: couldn't open "/System/Library/Frameworks/Tcl.framework/Versions/8.5/Resources/tclIndex": no such file or directory while executing
This seems directly related to a solved ticket (Ticket #25360), but I lack the skill to apply that knowledge to this particular port.
I'm using mac osx 10.6 with xcode version 3.2.6 in 64-bit mode. Debug Log is attatched.

Summary: | alpine @ 2.00 + configure error- can't find tcIIndex → icu: build fails |
The "can't find tclIndex" error message is spurious and is not the problem. The real problem would be shown in the main.log file.
The main.log file you attached shows an unclean build attempt of icu failing. If that's what you're having trouble with, "sudo port clean icu
" and try again, and if it fails again, attach the new main.log.
If you're having trouble with alpine, attach the alpine main.log. Note that there are several existing open tickets about alpine, and the software is probably to be considered obsolete by now.
