It looks like the MDImporter bundle is incomplete: it only has a Info.plist inside it.

I'll see if we can just disable it or remove it manually.

Yes, the MDImporter bundle is incomplete. I just installed LyX on request. Also CC'ing the (new?) maintainer.

I cannot find the binary it references: LyX-Metadata.

More work is necessary to figure out what's going on.

But what I cannot reproduce is mdimporter not working. I will have to force Spotlight to reindex and retry later.

FWIW, update: even after having Spotlight reindex everything, mdimporter is not failing on my 10.9 system.

So while the bundle is corrupt, it does not cause disruption for me.

Appears that the executable is in work/lyx-2.1.3/development/MacOSX/spotlight/

I've removed the Spotlight folder with the new 2.2.1 release - it can be re-added if they officially fix/release it r152327
