octave-statistics installs nothing

After installing octave-devel, I needed the statistics package, so I installed octave-statistics successfully (no error reported), but the package is not installed, as a simple inspection in octave shows:

octave:1> pkg list

miscellaneous *|   1.0.9 | /opt/local/share/octave/packages/miscellaneous-1.0.9

Note that sudo port contents octave-statistics shows:

Port octave-statistics contains:
  /opt/local/share/octave/octave_packages_octave-statistics

which is an empty file.

In the future, use WikiFormatting and fill in the Port field. Since this port is not maintained, if you can figure it out and supply a patch, it would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, i'm not skilled enough to fix the port. However a temporary solution is to use Octave-Forge packages:

octave:9> pkg install -auto -global -forge statistics

Note that it requires Octave "miscellaneous" package, that can be installed from macports:

Euridice:~ carmine$ sudo port install octave-miscellaneous

Please do:

sudo port selfupdate

and then try installing it again. Should be fixed with r114034.
