I'm attaching a diff of the changes I made to the Portfile that got it running for me. Someone should investigate if the configure patching can be removed as the comment in the Portfile suggests.

In the patch I: 

- Added modeline.
- Changed whitespace from tabs to 4 spaces.
- Removed cURL dependency.
- Added rundir where couchdb now wants to write a URI-file.
- Changed master_sites.mirror_subdir to new releases/ subdir.
