gdal +framework variant fails to install

Description
Here is the error.
gdal-1.9.0/libtool --mode=finish --silent /Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework/Versions/1.9 libtool: finish: invalid argument `/Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework/Versions/1.9'
Here is a hack to get it to install
mkdir -p /Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework/Versions/1.9
Now retry port install
sudo port install gdal +framework
Then you have to move it to the correct prefix
mv /Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework/ /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework

I assign this to the *new* maintainer. The reporter has not reported back, so I guess, there is a good chance that this ticket can just be closed.

I have really very little time these days, but I’ve never heard of anybody installing Gdal as a framework. I wonder if this option is still maintained upstream.

Well, I wouldn't to this normally, but I did and could not reproduce this problem. It just looks that depending ports fail to build. So I would just close this ticket if you agree. Of cause, we could also remove this variant completely.

I think it would be a good idea to remove the variant. In my opinion, it is not relevant any more. Unless, of course, somebody shouts out (s)he is still using it.

Maybe it is a good idea to announce the removal on the lists and wait some days for reactions, before proceeding. I doubt you reach the big mass via this ticket ;-).
