Works fine for me. Clean and try again? How long did you wait? How fast is your connection? It has to download about 80MB of stuff.

OK, likely correct. Sorry for the noise.

It looks like the current mplayer-devel port requires and open TCP port 3690. I'm on a machine behind a firewall I don't control, and this command doesn't pull down any files:

svn export -r34874 --ignore-externals svn://svn.mplayerhq.hu/mplayer/trunk /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_multimedia_mplayer-devel/mplayer-devel/work/trunk/

Would it be an acceptable solution to use the source snapshot, such as

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/mplayer-export-snapshot.tar.bz2

The downside is that there doesn't seem to be an archive of snapshots. Is there a workaround for people in my situation?

That's not acceptable ... you'll need to either fix your firewall, or stick with the mplayer port.
