Description
I wish to install ffmpeg-devel, but this dependency makes it impossible without uninstalling all of KDE 4.

Thanks for the workaround.
Is there any reason, though, that strigi couldn't just support either ffmpeg port? For example, vxl does "depends_lib path:lib/libavcodec.dylib:ffmpeg". Other ports that support either include xmms2, gnupod, libquicktime, transcode, VLC, and a bunch of others.

You don't have to uninstall anything. You can force-deactivate ffmpeg (sudo port -f deactivate ffmpeg), then install ffmpeg-devel. Of course, any ports that declare a dependency on only ffmpeg might not actually work with ffmpeg-devel so you might have to switch back and forth between activating ffmpeg or ffmpeg-devel depending on what other ports you want to use.
