#34906 assigned defect

installing kerberos5 breaks OS X' ssh

Reported by: h.grohne@… Owned by: ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.1.1
Keywords: Cc: nonstop.server@…, annelyse.thevenin@…
Port: kerberos5

Description

Installing kerberos5 on OS X results in two mutually incompatible kerberos installations. That means /usr/bin/klist uses a different ticket cache than /opt/local/bin/klist. Unfortunately /opt/local/bin/klist appears in $PATH before /usr/bin/klist and OS X' ssh does not use the ticket cache displayed by /opt/local/bin/klist. This breaks the ssh user experience in a very confusing way.

I see no obvious solution to this problem besides documenting it.
