Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GLOM_CFLAGS and GLOM_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details.

For reference
sudo port install bakery gnome-vfsmm pygda
– succeeded for bakery and for gnome-vfsmm but
Error: Port pygda not found
Related: #35102
glom @1.4.2- outdated dependencies: "gnome-python-extras" is now "pydga"
A long shot, I wondered whether glom might build without pygda,
:info:configure No package 'bakery-2.4' found :info:configure No package 'pygda-1.2' found
Currently,
bakery @2.6.3, Revision 2 (gnome)
– so I was puzzled by bakery-2.4 not found, but then I guess that this falls under the umbrella of #35008
glom: update to 1.22.0
