A fix is promised for tomorrow. Could you apply it as a patch?
Meanwhile, it is difficult to go back to 6.7.6 (last release where everything was working ok) as that depends on liblzma which is not installable anymore since a few days. Any hints?

See wiki:howto/InstallingOlderPort. In this case you'd want to install the previous versions of both liblzma and ImageMagick. Or you could just edit the older version of the ImageMagick portfile so that it references port:xz instead of port:liblzma.

I have posted the bug to the ImageMagick mailing list, they have introduced a patch on http://www.imagemagick.org/download/ImageMagick-6.7.8-2.tar.bz2 to fix this issue.

Upgrade ImageMagick to version 6.7.8-2 and revbump some dependents.
