Here's the error message:
Error: reinplace: sed: RE error: illegal byte sequence Error: org.macports.patch for port texlive-htmlxml returned: reinplace sed(1) failed
I have macports 2.1.2 running on Mountain Lion

Dan, you should just need to add "-locale C" to the reinplace, as in r91036.
