Description
giflib 5.0.0 was released in June 2012. Here's a patch to update the port. But it will not be committed.
giflib 5 has a different API than giflib 4. I haven't yet found a single port in MacPorts that uses giflib that is compatible with giflib 5. I began to file bug reports with the various projects. Here's the result:
- evas: the developers will not support giflib 5
- kdelibs4: no response to bug report
- leptonica: the developers suggest we use giflib 4 for the foreseeable future
- libgdiplus: no response to bug report
So MacPorts will stay on giflib 4 until further notice.
