Thanks; confirmed.

I don't see a particularly straightforward fix (suggestions welcome!). Further, if any of the other variants are selected, we introduce a dependency on pgplot, which can't be universal, so at the very least they should conflict.

Given the above, I'm tempted to set universal_variant no. Any objections to that?
