I'm not sure how to reproduce this problem. It still works for me, but it fetches files from http://lil.fr.distfiles.macports.org/gnuplot/4.6.1/. What happens if you delete (or backup at some other location) everything from /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/gnuplot
and try sudo port -v fetch gnuplot
?

The easiest way to accomplish this is as follows:
sudo port clean --all gnuplot

Thank you so much! I replace the default rsync server with rsync://lil.fr.rsync.macports.org/release/ports/, do port clean --all gnuplot. It works!

What rsync server you use is irrelevant to this problem.
In the future, please use WikiFormatting, fill in the Port field and Cc the port maintainer(s).
