Replying to ryandesign@…:
Why not the current version 1.6.0?
My application uses 1.5.0 but we didn't test the latest version. Anyway, it's good to have either of portfiles.

The developers already distribute an OS X binary and they say they've used MacPorts to compile the dependencies. They've meticulously documented the process of creating their pcl binary so we should be able to replicate that in a portfile. The one exception in the dependencies is openni. They say they did not use MacPorts for that, but did not say whether that's because MacPorts didn't have that port when those instructions were written (the port was only created in August) or whether there's something wrong with our port.

It sounds very doable to work on pcl port. I hope somebody is interested in creating the first version.
