I was looking for similar problems (#35580) but: XCode runs well (I can compile C applications) and I have installed Command Line Tools.

Could you attach the config.log it mentions?

Stupid thing... Now it works... Maybe after rebooting it's OK, have no idea, but I have done "clear" for ntfs-3g. I don't understand it. Where can I find this config.log?

The config.log would be a subdir or two under the location shown by port work ntfs-3g.

I can double this. I've just reinstalled my MBP from scratch, then installed xcode, including command line tools and MacPorts 2.1.2. So i started from a completely blank MacPorts instance and just did a "port install ntfs-3g". It then installed:

fuse4x @0.9.2 fuse/fuse4x
fuse4x-kext @0.9.2 fuse/fuse4x-kext
libiconv @1.14 textproc/libiconv
pkgconfig @0.27.1 devel/pkgconfig

and while installing ntfs-3g, the above error occured. After some fiddling around, I tried "port install autoconf" - which added the following stuff (which is pretty much, for the single purpose of mounting some ntfs disks :-( ).

autoconf @2.69 devel/autoconf
expat @2.1.0 textproc/expat
fuse4x @0.9.2 fuse/fuse4x
fuse4x-kext @0.9.2 fuse/fuse4x-kext
gdbm @1.10 databases/gdbm
gettext @0.18.2 devel/gettext
help2man @1.40.10 textproc/help2man
libiconv @1.14 textproc/libiconv
m4 @1.4.16 devel/m4
ncurses @5.9 devel/ncurses
ntfs-3g @2012.1.15 fuse/ntfs-3g
p5.12-locale-gettext @1.50.0 perl/p5-locale-gettext
perl5 @5.12.4 lang/perl5
perl5.12 @5.12.4 lang/perl5.12
pkgconfig @0.27.1 devel/pkgconfig

But now you can see ntfs-3g is successfully installed.

"autoconf" is mentioned as a dependency for fuse4x in the ports list on the macports homepage. I don't know if this (and the other dependencies) are really needed for ntfs-3g.

Hopefully someone could sort this out?

Thanks, Frank

Ok, after I found

http://fernandoff.posterous.com/ntfs-3g-20120115-binary-installer

I could boil it down to

expat @2.1.0 textproc/expat
fuse4x @0.9.2 fuse/fuse4x
fuse4x-kext @0.9.2 fuse/fuse4x-kext
gettext @0.18.2 devel/gettext
libiconv @1.14 textproc/libiconv
ncurses @5.9 devel/ncurses
ntfs-3g @2012.1.15 fuse/ntfs-3g
pkgconfig @0.27.1 devel/pkgconfig

The config.log - reported a missing -lintl. This seems to be delivered with "gettext" which is part of the "autoconf" dependencies.

I've just installed installed MacPorts on new MacBook. I can confirm that installing ntfs-3g produces the same error as before and installing "gettext" solves it.
