#37588 closed enhancement (wontfix)
asymptote @2.16_1 should not depend unconditionally on texlive

Component: | ports | Version: | 2.1.2 |

Port: | asymptote |
Description
The asymptote portfile contains the dependency port:texlive
, thus pulling in the texlive port even for users that have TeXlive installed outside macports. A better dependency would be bin:latex:texlive
.

From the referenced discussion I learned that MacTeX has asymptote built in. For me personally, that makes fixing this much less important. I'll leave it to others to decide whether or not to fix the port. (Not that the decision would be mine anyhow.)

If asymptote
does install TeX packages to ${prefix}/share/texmf
, then its dependency on MacPorts’ TeX is likely intentional.
