xml2 fails to build under OSX 10.8 because libxml fails to build

Description

Ticket re-opened per request from MacPorts as libxml is not supposed to depend upon libxml - however it does. 'main.log' file attached. Console log states: 

--->  Computing dependencies for xml2
--->  Dependencies to be installed: libxml
--->  Configuring libxml
Error: org.macports.configure for port libxml returned: autoreconf failure: command execution failed
Error: Failed to install libxml
Please see the log file for port libxml for details:
    /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_textproc_libxml/libxml/main.log
Error: The following dependencies were not installed: libxml
Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1
