Description
The current guile version is at 1.8.8 and its dependencies are: gettext gmp libiconv libtool readline
The 2.0 series has a few more extra dependencies, here is the list:
- libgmp
- libiconv
- libintl
- libltdl
- libunistring
- libgc
- libffi
- bdw-gc

What are the arguments for and against make a new guile2 (or guile20?) port vs. update the existing guile port from 1.8.x to version 2.x? We do already have a guile16 port for version 1.6.x
I don't really have any arguments for either. Personally, I do not mind either, but I would think some people would need the 1.8.x series for some reason. There are also big changes in 2.x.
