Whoops forgot to write everything!
Anyway, the same error occured here for me as well. As you can see in the log, cp -RP is looking for a vpnc...-component.pkg. Instead, macports produces a vpnc....pkg and because of this cp cannot find the package.

Yes. I have macports.conf pointing to it. It seems to make .pkgs fine but can't make a .mpkg out of them. I tested with a couple other ports and it doesn't work with them either.
