Note that there is ticket #37677 with a similar request as well. Maybe these should be merged?

Version 0.8.1 has been released. I will update ticket #37677. There it downloads from pypi.

This project is hosted at github. Possibly using the github portgroup would simplify the portfile.
This port fetches from git. Could it fetch from a tarball instead? That would be preferred.
This port fetches the head of the git repository. That's not ok; it needs to fetch a specific version of the source so that port builds are repeatable and predictable. You've indicated in the version field that this is version 0.8.1, so it needs to fetch version 0.8.1 of the source.
