Description
I think that the license of GALAHAD may not be compatible with macports. But I just want to submit the request in case it can be ported.

The salient bits seem to be
The library is freely available for “Internal”' use. “Internal” use of the library is defined to be use of the library by a person or institution for academic, educational, or research purposes under the following conditions.
and
A commercial licence and conditions for “commercial” (ie, non-“academic”) use of the GALAHAD library or any of its constituent parts have to be negotiated separately
Furthermore, downloading the distribution requires registration.

It appears that he "Conditions of Use" have changed a bit since 2008. The current code base can be browsed here:
http://ccpforge.cse.rl.ac.uk/gf/project/galahad/scmsvn/?action=browse&path=%2Ftrunk%2F
See doc/README.cou
. The user must now be "employed" by the listed institutions (Clause 3). The user can't allow anyone else to use the software (Clause 6a). The software can't be incorporated or embedded in any other product (clause6c). The user shall not cause the software to be brought into disrepute (Clause 8). I'm not a lawyer, and conditions like these do nothing to inspire me to become one.
On the positive side, the code can be downloaded without registration via svn.

Well, if you want to use this software and let MacPorts take care of all the dependencies and whatnot, you could follow the directions for making a Local Portfile Repository and create a personal portfile for it there. It's a little bit of extra effort, but it works...
MacPorts contains software under many diverse licenses. I haven't read the GALAHAD license yet, and I am not a lawyer, but what aspect of it do you believe would be problematic for MacPorts?
