I uninstalled then reinstalled xcode and uninstalled/deleted everything to do with macports, for good measure, then reinstalled it. After doing these things, I had no trouble building python27.

The log you attached was not from a clean attempt, so cleaning and trying again would have been the recommended first step, but I'm glad you got it working.
