Description
I am not able to update the macport. When i try to install new package then it say my port is outdated and suggest me to update. When i try to update it throw the error. Earlier it was working fine, and i was able to update port by sudo port -v selfupdate.
---> Updating MacPorts base sources using rsync rsync: failed to connect to rsync.macports.org: Operation timed out (60) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at /SourceCache/rsync/rsync-42/rsync/clientserver.c(105) [receiver=2.6.9] Command failed: /usr/bin/rsync -rtzv --delete-after rsync://rsync.macports.org/release/tarballs/base.tar /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/tarballs Exit code: 10 Error: /opt/local/bin/port: port selfupdate failed: Error synchronizing MacPorts sources: command execution failed
it seems like internet connection problem but internet is working fine. I tried this from my office where i am within VPN and at my home where there is no VPN and not behind any proxy server but it give me same error. I recently update mountain lion to 10.8.4 and updated latest java, I also update the xcode.
Xcode 4.6.3 Build version 4H1503
I posted this problem at stackoverflow.com and superuser.com but didn't get any answer. Someone suggested me to try
telnet rsync.macports.org 873
to check whether i am able to connect with macport server or not but this was operation timeout. I really need to resolve this otherwise i have no choice to switch to Homebrew.

I’m not aware of any recent changes that would affect our rsync server. It was probably a transient network problem.
Please do not set the Priority field.
Are you still experiencing this problem? I have no issues connecting to rsync.macports.org:
