gcc44 installation error

Hi All,

I hope that those data sets are adequate in order to save my problem, because I'm trying to install the gcc44 port and other ones as well, but I mostly end up in that error message.

Error: org.macports.destroot for port gcc44 returned: /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_lang_gcc44/gcc44/work/destroot/opt/local/lib/gcc44/libgcc_ext.10.4.dylib: no such file or directory

    /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_lang_gcc44/gcc44/main.log

The following commands were executed till now:
o sudo rm -rf /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/*
o sudo rm -rf /opt/local/var/macports/packages/*
o sudo rm -rf /opt/local/var/macports/build/*
o sudo port install gcc44
o sudo port --force install gcc44
o sudo port upgrade --force installed
o sudo port -v upgrade outdated
o sudo port -v upgrade outdated
o sudo port uninstall inactive
o sudo port -f install gcc44
o sudo port uninstall --follow-dependencies gcc44
o sudo port uninstall --follow-dependencies octave
o sudo port -v rev-upgrade
o sudo port -u -v upgrade outdated
o sudo port uninstall gcc44
o sudo port clean --all gcc44
o sudo port -nR upgrade --force gcc44
o sudo port clean

Duplicate of #40404, which was fixed with r110870. Clean gcc44, run selfupdate, and install again.

By the way, never use -f or --force without asking for help or knowing exactly what you are doing. You will shoot yourself in the foot.

Ok, thanks. I wont use it the next time. But I was really trying to solve that problem. And so I found those commands via Google Search and thought that --force or -f could solve my problem, but no. By the way, I forgot to mention those executed commands:
o sudo port uninstall arpack
o sudo port -f uninstall arpack
o sudo port install arpack +openmpi
o sudo port install arpack@3.1.3+openmpi
o sudo port -v rev-upgrade
o sudo port uninstall openmpi
