Description
Building globus-core 8.9_1 (r110696) without /usr/bin/gcc fails due to a bug in the autoconf macros handling the CC variable. Upstream bug: http://jira.globus.org/browse/GT-452.
Found using the hints in https://trac.macports.org/wiki/UsingTheRightCompiler.

There seems to be an update to globus-core 8.10 available (see http://www.globus.org/ftppub/gt5/5.2/5.2.4/updates/src/). Might this solve the problem or does it behave in the same way?
