Compiling gdb on OX 10.8.6

Description
I am trying to install gdb for an iMac running OS 10.8.6 (I thought gdb would come with the xcodes but apparently it does not). I trying different versions of gdb 5.3, 6.8 but all have the same symptom.
I run the ./configure and everyhting works fine. make also seems to work with no errors, but once I ran the "sudo make install" it reports that there is nothing to be copied and obviously no gdb is created.
Any ideas?

If you're encountering a problem installing a MacPorts port (the gdb port, perhaps?) then please attach the main.log file so that we can see what went wrong. Otherwise you'll have to seek help elsewhere.
