amarok fails. I am fairly new at this, but eager to participate. I have attached the log resulting from
sudo port -vd install amarok

Summary: | amarok → amarok: Dependency 'kdebase4-runtime' not found |
The log says "Dependency 'kdebase4-runtime' not found
". Indeed, there is no such port. The amarok portfile in our repository does not list this dependency. Did you locally modify your amarok portfile? Did you download and use a modified amarok portfile made by someone else?

no, I have not modified portfile. I have been wrestling with this for a week and last night came across a kde wiki from 2012 that went through the installation process in detail. it too listed kdebase4 as a dependency. alas, I learned then that the dependency does not exist in the repo.

I cannot reproduce this and there is no port that currently depends on kdebase4-runtime. You need to update your portindex and ports.
sudo port selfupdate sudo port upgrade outdated
