Searching the available ports on the string "gcc4", the only gcc port that comes up is gcc42. Is it possible to get a status update on this gcc49 ticket and/or the missing gcc43 through gcc48?

Damian, searching for gcc4 returns lots of result, including all of gcc42-gcc49:

Has this port been abandoned? Can anyone suggest another avenue that might yield a more detailed response from a macports developer or maintainer? Is there a mailing list we should contact?

I'll forward this to the macports-dev mailing list. I suppose you could also try asking some of the gcc upstream mailing lists...

After 3 months of without an update of this port and 5 days of no response on the macports-dev mailing list, I guess it seems reasonable to consider this port abandoned. Can anybody recommend an alternative? Maybe Homebrew? I've generally had good experiences with macports and haven't taken the time to evaluate/learn an alternative.

There is no need to jump ship to another package management system; someone just needs to update these ports. Larry, I can also look into it, unless you've already gotten started?

Can you also take a look of #43789 [update gcc 4.8.2 to 4.8.3]? Thanks.

Sorry, I got tied up this week with some other stuff, but you seem to have things under control.

And don't forget that the epoch of gcc49 would need to be increased, since:
