It appears that the version of rvm used by MacPorts is out of date. The current version is at:

​https://github.com/wayneeseguin/rvm

An update would be appreciated.

Note that this rvm that you linked to (the Ruby Version Manager) is different software from the rvm port in MacPorts (the Rsync Vault Manager). I've been confused by this before, too...
