Description
I've created a port for octave-fits 1.0.5.
The Octave-FITS package provides functions for reading, and writing FITS (Flexible Image Transport System) files.

I'd commit this for you but I can't get atlas to build on Yosemite

atlas definitely can be built on Yosemite:
$ port -d installed atlas The following ports are currently installed: atlas @3.10.2_1+gcc49 (active) platform='darwin 14' archs='x86_64'

I'm not familiar w/ octave - is this what's expected?
Port octave-fits contains: /opt/local/lib/octave/packages/.turd_octave-fits /opt/local/share/octave/fits.tar.gz /opt/local/share/octave/packages/.turd_octave-fits

Yup. It seems all octave packages do this. See octave-1.0.tcl.
