Oh, this was on 10.9, with xcode 6.1.1 and command line tools 6.1. Sorry, forgot to add that.

The relevant error seems to be:

error: couldn't create cache file '/var/folders/sw/t56j62d53c90rmfkbcp9_9y40000gq/T/xcrun_db-vk1pWkIM'

Try deleting that directory, then cleaning the affected port and trying again.

We've seen the temporary directories become unusable before, but have never figured out why. Deleting the temporary directory and allowing the system to recreate it has worked before, though.

Clearing out /var/folders (I decided to just toss all the caches and accept a temporary speed hit, rather than track down the individual directory) seems to have fixed it. Thanks!

Ok great. As far as we know, there is something odd going on with the operating system, or perhaps with some other program using and altering these temporary directories. We don't believe it's a bug in MacPorts.
