Description (last modified by larryv (Lawrence Velázquez))
I am attempting to download port for the first time and it seems to have gone well except when I try to install cdo it gives me error saying that all the required dependencies are not there file:///opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_textproc_libiconv/libiconv/main.log
I have XCode 4.5.2 and have tried the suggested "configure.compiler..."
When I do port installed I only get:
expat @2.1.0_0 (active) libiconv @1.14_0 (active)
which is not all that I need for cdo!
In all that I read it seems that port should pre-load all the dependencies for cdo to be installed but that isnt happening. I'm thinking I need to uninstall and re-install but Im open to suggestions. I'm a novice at all of this but I followed the directions closely and have checked for all updates and made sure my command line is installed on Xcode and all those extra things.
please help!

Error from port clean cdo libiconv
I tried it and the first command gave me an error about my Xcode installation. I have xcode on my machine but obviously something is not connecting it. Any suggestions?

By doing sudo xcode-select -switch /Applications/Xcode.app/ I was able to run the first command without an error. I tried to install cdo again but got this error: Error: org.macports.activate for port ncurses returned: Image error: /opt/local/bin/captoinfo already exists and does not belong to a registered port. Unable to activate port ncurses. Use 'port -f activate ncurses' to force the activation. Error: Failed to install ncurses

I uninstalled the whole thing, did all the updates I could find for Xcode, etc and then re-downloaded. It seems to have worked this time. Thank you for your help.
