install ok/no build
is there a clean way to handle python.dir for a port not using python portgroup?

Well ok version you might need to set, if the project does not assign version numbers.

You should not set master_sites, version, distname or worksrcdir when using the github portgroup; the portgroup sets these appropriately for you. Please consult the comments in the github portgroup if you need help using the portgroup.
