Description
It would be nice to have a variant that downloaded and installed the FIPS module (https://www.openssl.org/source/) and compiled that into the OpenSSL source code. Note: I have not tried this myself, so I'm unsure if there are any uncodable roadblocks in the process.

At a glance, this does not seem appropriate for distribution through a general-purpose system like MacPorts.

I'm not going to work on this, so unless somebody provides a patch, this isn't happening.
I'm closing this as wontfix, please re-open if you want to work on this and have a patch.
